Lumi is on STEAM // W.A.S.D 2024

Hello everyone!

It’s been a minute since our last development update – we’re sorry! However, we do have some very exciting news to share with you, so hold on to your swords and your stars!

First off, I want to announce that Lumi: Starbound Adventure is finally on Steam!

Make sure you add it to your wishlist!

Secondly, I want to share the exciting news that you will be able to try a demo of Lumi: Starbound Adventure during W.A.S.D April 2024 in London! Read more about what W.A.S.D is, and how to attend here.

We would also like to thank everyone for the immense support we’ve received for the game, and the friends we made along the way. We cherish you all, and hope for a brilliant 2024!

Dreaming Giants have been busy these past months, but the progress we’ve made is nothing short of incredible. Let’s have a look at how far we’ve come…

Lumi at Insomnia 2023

In early September, we made our way up to Birmingham for Insomnia Gaming Festival 2023. This was the first public showcase for Lumi: Starbound Adventure, and we were super excited!

The response from everyone was nothing short of phenomenal, and we’re so glad that Lumi captivated so many of you.

People from all over and all age groups came around to play our game, and the response we received warmed our hearts and imaginations. As a remotely working team, it was also an experience for us to connect further, and create lasting memories.

We were thrilled about all the feedback we received at the event. The opportunity to showcase our game for so many people and receive an abundance of ideas, reactions, and talking points really was priceless. During Insomnia, we also got some really good thoughts, ideas, and various bugs that we had to gently let out the window before being able to showcase the game again – and we are happy that we did!

Tranzfuser – the Competition

As you may or may not be aware of, Lumi: Starbound Adventure was born from Tranzfuser, a UK-based grant programme and competition allowing new game developers a chance at some funding, guidance, and connections. 19 teams compete to create the best new game. The winners were to be selected during the demo playthroughs at Insomnia, and announced after.

We were so very thrilled when we found out that we won.

Shortly after, we received funding from the UK Games Fund, which is currently our (temporary) primary source of funding. You can read about their announcement here, and about our game on their website here.

DebugU Game Awards Nottingham

Earlier in February, Dan, our composer and producer and Petra, our wonderful art lead, took the trip to Nottingham for DebugU Game Awards for a micro-showcase, testing our latest build. We gathered some important feedback there, helping us improve the game further before the upcoming showcase at W.A.S.D. We can’t wait to make you proud!

We’ll be hard at work until then, but we’ll try to keep you engaged at the steps along the way.

Thank you so much again to everyone for staying with us, and for loving Lumi as much as we do.

As always,

Stay tuned, Stay Giant!
